Another battle won – Sikorski’s lawsuit brings results.

Ringer Axel Springer Polska, the publishers of Fakt, have decided to temporarily close down the discussion forums on all their websites. According to Grzegorz Jankowski, editor-in-chief of the daily, the reason for this is the recent flood of loutishness and all-round offensive primitive comments. He wrote in today’s edition of the newspaper: “This online wave of hate has grown so vast that we do not have the time or the resources to constantly dispose of the garbage that is dumped in our chatrooms. We do not hide that this is also a reaction to Minister Sikorski’s lawsuit, which rightly pointed out the problem of the language of hate that dominates internet comments … We call upon all website owners in Poland: do not pretend this problem does not concern you. We now stand shoulder to shoulder with the Minister. And, on behalf of my publisher, I appeal to you, fellow publishers: join us. Let us tackle this problem together. Because it affects us all.”
