The Prosecutor’s Office in Warsaw has begun its investigation following Minister Sikorski’s criminal complaint regarding vulgar, offensive and anti-Semitic entries in internet chatrooms. The Prosecutor decreed that, “given the seriousness of the matter, a criminal investigation is warranted.” Investigators will determine the IP addresses from which comments were posted.

Last month, Radosław Sikorski filed a criminal complaint regarding the propagation of anti-Semitic texts online. The Minister argued that this undermines Poland’s image abroad. Sikorski, who was given victim status in the matter, also submitted examples of ‘hate speech’ at the Prosecutor’s Office.
