Foreign Ministers Radosław Sikorski and Carl Bildt debate “Stabilisation vs. Democratisation”

Democracy and stability are not mutually exclusive, argued Minister Sikorski at a debate titled “Stabilisation vs. Democratisation” on Wednesday. The debate, with Swedish Foreign Minister Carl Bildt, was held at the National School of Public Administration in Warsaw.

Radosław Sikorski reminded participants that some democratic nations supported the 1981-3 Polish martial law in the name of global stability. Democracy must never be traded for what is often illusory stability, he said.
